The Lilly Road

Road trip up to King of Prussia to Lilly headquarters was a blast.
Spring 2011 was presented to us and I have several things to say.

Oh My God......Can you say Mad Men? Everything this season is 50's flirty dresses and Lilly is on it. Over 40 amazing silhouettes are in this incredible grouping.

It starts with a POP in January with a print called Pop Purple Optical confusion and finishes up with Lillys Pink Big Squeeze. This grouping came from the pop cultural influence and features a one shoulder wonder!

The Whittaker will be here in January 2011 in two prints for $258.00.

The next section is dedicated to virgins....just kidding. The White Dress presentation is breathtaking. Very soft,lacy, and pure. Very Uma meets Pfeiffer. Dresses with a strap have a two finger rule, which all of us Moms know is great for graduation or religious events. We are excited about all 12 dresses in this group.

Summer Lovin

The sisters three drove just down the road to Miami's Raleigh Hotel on famed Collins Avenue to be with Amy Smilovic, owner and designer of Tibi. There, we were privy to front and center seats watching the most beautiful models clad in the most beautiful printed and solid swimwear in town. Our favorite....the pink and green print of course. All swimwear is available Spring 2010 and will be featured on our website: corrico.com

Nick & Johnnies

We indulged ourselves at lunch yesterday at the newest restaurant in town, Nick and Johnnie's.
The atmosphere is very casual and relaxing. The breeze that is caught by the 15 foot awning keeps you in the right mood. The salads range from traditional Cesar to The Brown Derby signature salad. Of course, the gazpacho, evidently Chuck and Harold's recipe, was delectable.
The wait staff is young and adorable clad in linen oxfords. We had a wonderful lunch.
The live music on the weekends will be enticing and the bar should be rockin.
Congratulations Coniglio Family on another successful eatery. Thank you for keeping us full and happy!

BLACK and WHITE ALL OVER

You know it's season when we're hosting what feels like the best parties in the world... with everyone we love... only it's ALL of our out of town friends coming in during the Spring Break break. And when all you wanna do is get your pals from everywhere dressed in the prettiest looks, catch up on their families, beaus, achievements and weight loss secrets, getting away for an actual meal is not just impossible, it's unthinkable...

After all, who might you miss for something as silly as food?

Still, with the new sleek six 6 (!!!!) Kathie as our role model, we're taking a cue for the mostly vegetarian Orrico sister and her trick for maintaining her energy during these crazy days of "ohmygoodness, it's been so long... wait'll you see this amazing little dress/pair of shorts/darling pair of shoes...": Hamburger Heaven's Black & White.

The Black & White, for the uninitiated, is a hand scooped vanilla ice cream, heavy chocolate syrup extra thick milk shake. Made as only Cindy and the girls at Hamburger Heaven can do it!!!

Thick enough to satisfy and fill up your tummy. Plenty of calcium to build your bones. Sugar to burn in the afternoon stretch. And... of course... enough chocolate to release your way-high-to-great-pleasure zones in full-throttle throes.

Anyone coming to PB who wants a real Palm Beach experience need only wander half a block North on South County Road, You don't even need to get in the line; get it to go. Nothing like a Black & White to walk the streets and sate your every hungry... well, every hungry except what're you wearing tonight! (But, hey, we've already got that covered for you...!)

FASHION ROCKS PALM BEACH!!!!

We have our own sense of style... our own way of dress... our own way of being...

Palm Beach is its own destination -- and the truly stylish recognize that there's a whole sartorial whirl beyond what the fashion magazines dictate. It's not anti-fashion -- our girls wear Gucci and Hermes, Prada and Chanel just as well as anyone -- but it's more about dressing for one's own pleasure. Ease of elegance, simplicity of design, an ice cream colored palette that is breathtaking in its intensity or smile-inducing in its pastel prettiness.

And tonight Palm Beach Fashion Week kicks off at Mar-A-Lago with gorgeous Ivanka Trump's jewels. Eres' bathing suits, the high fashionry of Vlassis Holevas. But any chance to go the Post Estate and look just so is better than Rudyard Kipling to us!!!

There are events scheduled all over Palm Beach County: Jupiter, Delray Beach, Palm Beach Gardens. Tomorrow night is an especially intimate gathering as the sun sets at the newly renovated, positively chic Ritz Carlton's pool -- featuring the ultimate Palm Beach go everywherewear by Lilly Pulitzer.

Whether you're working jewel encrusted sandals or the classic whipstitched Navahos, where else but Palm Beach would flip-flops be as chic for evening? Nowhere, which is what set our Fashion Week festivities apart. 

GOOD THING SHE'S IN TRAINING

That sexy Colleen Orrico, the youngest of the three Orrico girls, hit the Loop Around The Lake last week -- and did the 3.7 Mile Run in 38 minutes. Not her best time, but pretty great considering the amount of time she's spent unpacking the latest 62 (no, seriously SIXTY-TWO!) boxes of Lilly Pulitzer that have just arrived...

 

She's gonna need her stamina, because in the next 5 days, the sisters Orrico have got a full calendar. Look for Kathie, Casey and Colleen everywhere at almost the same time it seems:

Wednesday, they are chairing St Edwards annual fashion show, Thursday, they will be everyone's Palm Beach Sweethearts, Friday begins the 3-day Enter The Dragon Men's Event -- with Lilly Pulitzer Doug Conklyn on hand on Saturday afternoon to answer questions, talk about the evolution of the line and generally share the esprit du Lilly! 

And so...

if you wanna find the perfect plucky look, these are the girls to help you. Whether you're catching them -- literally -- on the run or at one of the islands' many social and charitable events (rumor has it they'll be popping up at the White Hall on Saturday night), they are always charming, gracious and embody the healthy spirit that is Palm Beach.

The Girls Quest

Quest magazine will have a fabulous story about us in their Feb issue. The store was written by the incredible Holly Gleason. Here is a sneak peak at some of the verbiage.

Orrico, the pink and white striped awning outpost that reigns over “the Island”'s storied South County Road, has been keeping their Audrey Hepburn meets Gidget vitality for over two decades - and the secret is recognizing that active people want to be pretty, but not frilly. To that end, they know the sexiest thing of all is a woman who is completely alive. “Our customers live their lives,” laughs Casey, whose sons Jack and Harry attend Rosarian Academy. “They play tennis, ride horses, run businesses, sell real estate, have families… They need their clothes to function, but they don't want to concede beauty for function's sake.”
